We comprise a number of mums, dads, carers and guardians who meet informally with our babies/toddlers for a coffee, chat and social gathering on Monday mornings between 9.00 and 11.00am in the 'Village Hall' at Maresfield.

It is often difficult meeting new people when you have young babies and children, especially if you move to a new area.

We hope to offer that initial link to others in the same situation - a chance not only for our little ones to have great fun, but for us to build friendships, enjoy adult interaction and perhaps find support when the going gets tough. In other words, the group is not just for the children, but for their carers, parents and guardians too.

We are listed in the KITES database. However our best form of marketing is still "word of mouth."

What facilities do we have?

We meet in a superb village hall that is a large, well lit, open space, giving lots of room for different areas of play where the children can 'run off steam!'. We also have the use of an adjacent car park and are opposite a bus stop.

What are the sessions like?

The sessions are very relaxed and informal which is something that we would like to continue. A suggested donation of £1.50 per session covers refreshment and hall hire costs. Any surplus is built up to cover the costs of the outings and parties each term.

What play areas are there?

The main zones are: the baby area, "Happy Street" train layout area, cars/trains/trucks area, puzzles/books zone, playdough/craft zone, slide/tent/tunnel/ride-on cars zone and dressing up corner.

We also run a music session periodically, make our own instruments, sing to nursery rhymes, action songs and listen to cd's. (None of us are professional!!!)

What else do we do?

We arrange end of term parties or outings. Most of these are paid for from proceeds donated during the year. We have visited: "Heaven Farm", Blackberry Farm, Monkey Business, Pandamonium (both indoor play centres) and Raystede Animal Sanctury.

A Tempest Photographer attends twice a year and the children can have individual photos taken (in time for Easter and Christmas).

We are also linked to St. Bartholomew's Church and its "Kids Club." Our sessions are not Christian in content, but we are developing occasional 'toddler services' at key times of the year such as harvest, Christmas and Easter.

What plans do we have for the future?

We would like to arrange "practical parenting courses" and develop the group further to provide support to local families in the Maresfield area. We would also like to arrange a toddler service once a month. Above all, we would like to listen to the needs of the local families, and if suggestions come forward, act on and develop them.
